Police and technology go hand in hand.

According to a senior officer at Dubai Police the department is always on the lookout for the latest technological advancements and innovative new gadgets to help the department.

“We have a special team specifically looking into incorporating new technology and gadgets.

“The idea is to provide a safe environment and technology has indeed helped us a great deal,” says Brigadier Anas Al Matrooshi, Deputy Director of the General Department of Operations for Transport and Rescue.

However, he refused to get into specifics about the latest of such incorporations.

“We have a mission, to maintain Dubai as one of the safest cities in the world and we have been doing everything required for it,” he said.

“We need to create a benchmark for others and we have been doing so,” he said.

The department is showcasing itself with a significant presence at Intersec 2014, the safety and security exhibition that began in Dubai on January 19.

Pointing to the Dubai Police’s fleet of luxury vehicles being showcased at the show he said, “These vehicles for example are tools that communicate to the public our approach to modernity and advanced technology. “Everywhere we have showcased these vehicles, we have managed to attract quite a lot of admirers,” he said.

Among the cars are a Lamborghini with the number plate 2020.

The car itself has the traditional Dubai Police logo and is showcasing the department’s support to Expo 2020.
