Dubai Police saves 8 sisters from deportation

The Department of Women and Child Protection at the Directorate General of Human Rights, Dubai Police, has been able to resolve some key family disputes and keep families together.

In an interview with ‘Al Khaleej’, Fatima Al Kindi, head of the section, said they were able to solve a problem between a brother and his eight sisters, after the death of their father.

Al Kindi said that the brother, being the breadwinner and the family sponsor, got into a dispute with the sisters and refused to renew their residence visas.

She said the sisters are living in the UAE since their birth and they have no breadwinner but their brother, who also manages their father's property.

Al Kindi says that based on the complaint of the sisters the department contacted the brother, solved the problem and renewed the residence visas of the sisters.

In a more bizarre case that Al Kindi dealt with, a wife refused to go to the matrimonial home prepared by her husband.

“The reason for the refusal was very strange,” Al Kindi said, adding, “She said that the furniture which was purchased was not chosen by her and that it was chosen by the first wife of her husband.”

The wife filed a case against her husband and asked the court to grant her a divorce.
