Dubai Public Prosecutor Essam Al Humaidan had referred Saleh Al Dhufairi to the Federal State Security Prosecution in Abu Dhabi on charges of crimes threatening state security.

Al Humaidan's move is based on article (99) of the state constitution on jurisdiction of the federal supreme court to look into crimes that directly threaten the UAE Federation's interests including its internal and external security.

The defendant was arrested last week after the authorities received information that he was using the social networking platform (Twitter) to stir sedition and abuse religion to instigate members of the public to perpetrate acts that pose threat to state security.

The Dubai Public Prosecution apprehended him pending investigation on counts of abusing religion to promote ideas that abet sedition and harm social peace and of using an information technology channel to disseminate information on the internet to provoke acts threatening state security and public order.
