Dubai’s Deputy Ruler donated Dh200,000 for the treatment of a newborn Egyptian girl who was born with some defects just a few hours after a newspaper in the emirate published the baby’s ordeal.

Her father said the gesture saved his daughter’s life and ended 50 days of suffering by her parents.

Ali Amin said he had spent all those days searching for a hospital that will accept to admit his daughter but all of them rejected her on the grounds he did not have enough money. Other hospitals said they could not accept such cases from other emirates.

A few hours after the baby’s ordeal was published by Emarat Alyoum Arabic language daily, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, ordered the payment of all treatment costs to a private hospital in the emirate.

“Sheikh Maktoum donated all the money needed for the baby’s treatment and asked them to keep him informed about her condition,” Emirat Alyoum said.

Amin said his daughter would stay at hospital for two weeks, adding that he wishes to convey thanks to Sheikh Maktoum. “He saved my daughter’s life and ended my suffering and my wife’s ordeal,” he said.
