Dubai Sports City to host biggest community cycle event

Dubai Sport City is set to host the community’s biggest cycling event as hundreds of cyclists prepare to take part in the eighth edition of The Great Dubai Pulse Ride – Off Road.

The free event, which takes place on Friday 11th November, will see cyclists of all ages and abilities take to three different routes and distances, with a 5km and 10km family ride and a more challenging 20km route on offer. Each route offers participants a safe, off-road and traffic ride with a full support team on hand to manage the event.

With participation numbers growing since its launch in 2013, the event has now become a must-do cycling event for Dubai Sport City residents, families and keen cyclists alike. Over 550 cyclists took part in March’s ride and more than 5,500 people have participated in the event since its inception.

Dubai Sports City President, Khalid Al Zarooni, himself a keen cyclist, said: “Cycling in the UAE has gained tremendous popularity in recent years and I am delighted that The Great Dubai Pulse Ride – Off Road has contributed to that growth.  We have created an opportunity for families and cycling enthusiast to come together and enjoy an off-road cycling experience in a safe, secure environment and are now seeing those that took part in to 5km or 10km growing in confidence and progressing by taking part in the 20km challenge.

“Participation in the Dubai Pulse Ride and our events across Dubai Sports City have been growing year-on-year and it is fantastic to see that this event is set to be our biggest and best yet. Cycling is a huge part of Dubai Sports City’s culture and I would like to see this increase more and more in the future.”

As well as more than Dh10,000 prizes on offer from Dubai Sports City and the Cycle Hub, those who are not cycling will also be able to join in the fun as there will be family friendly activities taking place throughout the Sports Village.

With activities, such as bouncy castles, kids’ art and crafts and a local market zone there is something for all the family to enjoy, whether cycling or supporting, making the eighth edition of The Great Dubai Pulse Ride – Off Road an event not to be missed.

The Great Dubai Pulse Ride – Off Road is a collaboration between Dubai Sports City President, Khalid Al Zarooni, and Dubai Sports Council and showcases the benefits of leading a healthy and active lifestyle, which echoes the ethos of Dubai Sports City.

Pre-event registration is encouraged via  www.thecyclehub.com.  Entrants can also enter on the day at Dubai Sports City’s Sports Village from 7am, with the event commencing at 8am.
