Dubai to have 5 new parks

Dubai Municipality has announced that it has begun to implement five residential park and public square projects in the city at a total cost of Dh17 million.

“The contracts have been awarded and the projects are currently in the preparation stage,” said Hussein Lootah, Director General of the municipality.

He said the municipality aims to make Dubai one of most beautiful and green cities in the world.

Taleb Abdul Karim Julfar, Director of Public Parks and Horticulture, said the total number of parks and public places in Dubai has now reached 103, including six major parks, two open beaches, four pond parks, 33 residential parks and 58 public squares.

The five new projects are as follows:

Neighbourhood Park in Lisayli

It will the first residential park in Lisayli area. Total area of the park will be 1.7 hectares. The park will have areas for families and shaded resting chairs in addition to basic services like toilets, security cabin, store, paved walking tracks, shaded plaza with wooden umbrellas, areas for children's games for different age groups.

The second part of the park consists of a football court, chairs and synthetic jogging track. The park will have solar-powered lights and an integrated irrigation network.

Satwa Reservoir Park

Satwa Reservoir Park will be the first neighbourhood park that fully functions on solar power. The old park near the water reservoir tower in Satwa will be rebuilt. This will be the first park in that works without electric power from the grid. Area of the park will be 1.5 hectares.

Mankhool Park

This is a multipurpose park for families, children and youth in Mankhool area which currently lacks a neighbourhood park. Total area of the park will be 1.3 hectares which will have all basic facilities.

Public Square in Al Muhaisna 3

Al Muhaisna 3 at present lacks a recreational area. Total area of the garden will be 1.0 hectare and will have basic facilities like other public parks in Dubai in addition to solar powered lighting and irrigation.

Public square in Al Warqa'a 4

This will be the first gardening project in Warqa'a 4. It will have all basic facilities including areas for children. The square will be built on 0.60 hectares and will have shaded chairs, wooden umbrellas , waste bins surrounded by plants and trees, paved walking tracks, solar-powered lighting and metal fence.
