Dubai tracks crime abroad to keep us safe

Dubai Police keeps track of all kinds of new crimes that happen in other countries to prevent as well as deal with these crimes if it happens here, according to top official.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, Major-General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant to Dubai Police Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs, said that there is no organised crimes here in the emirate. “We don’t have organised crimes in Dubai because we follow strict policing to fight all types of crimes before it becomes organised, or develop.”

Maj-Gen Al Mansouri added that Dubai Police keeps a track of new trends in crimes in all other countries to prevent such crimes from taking place here.

“Our officers keep track of new crimes that happen in other countries. We then try to prevent these crimes, and also know how to deal with such crimes if it takes place here.”

He pointed out that there are no serious crimes here in Dubai.

“Majority of crimes are simple, and [by] individuals. They are not organised.”

Maj-Gen Al Mansouri added Dubai Police follows a basic strategy - prevention is better way to fight crimes. 

“Prevention is the best method to fight any type of crime. It plays a key role. And thus, we try our best to prevent new crimes from taking place here.”

He pointed out that Dubai Police is keen on developing both - technology and man power - to face new challenges and crimes. “We develop our technologies on a continuous basis. We also enhance our manpower by continual training. Our main aim is to fight crime and maintain security. And these two tools help us to do so.”

He added: “We also depend heavily on public, and we receive tips from them regularly. This help up in fighting and preventing different types of crimes.”
