The Dubai Criminal Court awarded two Pakistanis one year in jail each for forging a lease contract of a plot of land and an Emirati passport and leasing out a land not owned by them for Dh200,000.

GNM, 36, procurement manager, acted as an Emirati land owner and MAA, 27, foreman, acted as his business manager to defraud a 38-year-old Afghani investor, Sabrallah Mirzani, by leasing a land owned by Abdullah Mulla Hassan, Bahraini.

They forged signatures on the lease and submitted a forged Emirati passport.

The Afghani Masjid Imam Sayed Kul Sayed Kamal, 37, testified before the Prosecution that GNM had told him that he owned a plot which he was willing to lease out.

Sabrallah Mirzani agreed to lease the land for Dh300,000 and actually paid them Dh200,000 in cash after signing the lease. GNM started delaying handing over the land to the tenant, Kamal testified.

The victim Mirzani testified before the Prosecution that the two showed him the land’s map but when the land was not handed over, he found out that it is owned by another person.

Saeed Saleh, 36, policeman, testified that GNM claimed his nick name was Abu Rashid and he was wearing Emirati traditional dress and driving a flashy car.

The accused presented to the victim an Emirati passport which was proved forged as the picture on it was replaced and some information changed and signed on the lease as the land owner in front of the victim.

The two accused confessed to the accusations and were found guilty by the court. They will be deported after serving their jail term.
