A series of accidents have been reported across major roads across UAE, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi Police warning of traffic congestion across parts of the emirates.

The morning commute has been further hindered due to low visibility caused by blowing dust, especially in the western parts of the country.

The UAE weather bureau also issuing an alert, which the capital police posted on its official Twitter account: “Reduced visibility due to dust on different areas in Abu Dhabi and highways. Motorists are urged to drive with caution.”

In Dubai a car reportedly overturned on Al Meydan Road, near Al Khail Road interchange, resulting in authorities partially shutting the major link for commuters that connect from Dubai-Al Ain highway to Sheikh Zayed Road.

Dubai Police tweeted the same, saying: “An accident has been reported on Al Meydan Road near Al Meydan Bridge, please be extra cautious.”

This has created a backlog of traffic on both sides of Dubai Mall exit, prompting one commuter to tweet: “Heavy traffic congestion on Dubai Mall exit from Al Khail Road when coming from Abu Dhabi and on D73 from Al Jadaf.”

Meanwhile, ‘back to school’ traffic is being reported on Umm Suqeim Road, connecting from Al Khail, along with congestion on Hessa Street from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, heading towards Jumeirah.
