The Executive Committee of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council approved during its meeting presided over by Dr. Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei the formation of an e-government supervisory committee at the Government of Abu Dhabi.

The supervisory committee shall be headed by Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Health Authority, and shall include as members Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, Abu Dhabi Department of Finance, Department of Economic Development, Department of Municipal Affairs, Abu Dhabi City Municipality, Al Ain Municipality, Western Region Municipality, Abu Dhabi Health Authority, Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority, Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, Abu Dhabi Education Council, Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, General Directorate of Residence and Foreign Affairs, and Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Center.

The Centre is considered as the governmental party that owns the IT agenda of the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The formation of the committee is in line with directions issued by the Government of Abu Dhabi aimed at reinforcing e-government capacities by establishing an effective and innovative system, which helps build a sustainable digital base reflecting the comprehensive development witnessed by Abu Dhabi in several areas.

The committee seeks to unify government efforts and direct them toward best international practices in smart government services. This would enable the Government of Abu Dhabi to achieve its goals according to a complete framework for an integral government that facilitates the optimal implementation of standards and methodologies relating to smart services by government entities.

The committee shall also review and draft work progress reports that include the challenges facing the implementation of government services methodologies, in addition to providing the necessary guidance to review performance indicators for e-government services, infrastructure, design and procedures, and human capacities. It shall make recommendations for required improvements, and consider and adopt agreements on the level of these services.

The implementation of the digital governance framework will help modernize government services and transform them to digital services, in addition to improving services and work mechanisms at government entities. This in turn would help establish a solid smart government strategy for the Government of Abu Dhabi at government entities, and therefore guarantee the strategy’s execution according to the set plans. The Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC) supervises and coordinates the implementation of the e-Government programme with members and the Abu Dhabi Government entities.
