The Embassy of Egypt in Abu Dhabi has praised the UAE's support to the sovereign measures taken yesterday by the Egyptian government to disperse the sit-ins in Rabaa al-Adawiya Square and al-Nahda Square.
The Egyptian Embassy emphasised that the UAE, based on its wide knowledge of the facts of the Egyptian issue, makes diligent and sincere efforts towards an all-inclusive national reconciliation, and calls for contribution to the political process as outlined by the roadmap to the future which was mandated by will of the Egyptian people in the 30th June revolution.
Media Adviser at the Egyptian Embassy, Abdul Fattah Shu'aib, in a press release, emphasised that the Muslim Brotherhood leaders are fully responsible for making the Egyptian government interfere to put an end to the sit-ins in Rabaa al-Adawiya Square and al-Nahda Square.
"Dispersing armed sit-ins is a matter of sovereignty in facing armed sit-ins which used all forms of violence," said the Egyptian diplomat.
"They are also responsible for their militias' continued violence all over Egypt and their attempt to establish new standpoint in order to escalate their violence with the aim to disrupt life in the country, terrorise people and topple the state."
The adviser added that large amounts of firearms, birdshots and ammunition inside Rabaa al-Adawiya mosque and around al-Nahda Square, adding that millions saw the armed militia members patrolling the streets in most Egyptian governorates to set fire to some twenty churches, houses and shops owned by Egyptian Copts, few hours after the security forces started to disperse the sit-ins.
The Egyptian Embassy's adviser added that these militias also attacked police stations, security directorates in Cairo and other governorates and committed crimes against humanity after slaughtering a number of police officers in these place.
"What is happening in Egypt is a internal affair and Cairo rejects any foreign pressures or international interference in its internal affairs. By accepting the visits to Egypt by foreign delegations, Egypt aimed to give a bigger chance for diplomatic solutions to the crisis within a completely Egyptian framework."
He emphasised that "the Egyptian government continues to move forward to implement the roadmap to the future in a way that does not exclude any party from participating in the political process, based on democratic foundations that achieve democratic transition. The Egyptian government has keen interest in guaranteeing the right to peaceful expression of opinion as long as it remains in compliance to the law, protection of the freedom of others and the safety and security of the society."
