The Eid Al Fitr celebrations is already seeing Dubai play dress up as the festivities explode in a riot of colours, firework displays and entertainment extravaganzas that will be held across the emirate in a week-long spectacle.

While children have life shows to humour their ennui, adults have musical ride to keep their diaries busy over the seven-day party.

*Fireworks

All days of Eid

A Dubai tradition and a firm favourite for any celebratory event in the city, the daily fireworks return once again this Eid Al Fitr to light up the night sky as some of the world’s best pyro technicians come together.

A grand fireworks show will commence at every night during Eid from the Dubai Creek from 8pm.

Dubai Festival City will also see its own set of fireworks from 8pm.

*Angry Birds Angry Birds Universe - The Art and Science Behind a Global Phenomenon


July 28-September 8

Dubai Summer Surprises is hosting the world premiere of the travelling exhibition ‘Angry Birds Universe: The Art and Science Behind a Global Phenomenon’.

Organised by Rovio Entertainment Ltd, in partnership with Jack Rouse Associates (JRA) and Imagine Exhibitions Inc, developed this unique exhibition based on the popular Angry Birds games.

Fans of all ages will have fun learning a wide variety of educational concepts in an extremely hands-on environment.

Enthusiasts will also have the chance to ‘be the bird’ in a unique, full-body demonstration of Angry Birds physics, which will propel guests on zip lines to knock over enormous foam structures, just like in the game.
In addition, other full-body attractions include a Laser Maze, Climbing Wall, Planetarium, and an oversized Sling Shot activity.

The game will be open to the public from Saturday to Wednesday from 10am to 10pm, Thursday 10am to midnight and Friday 3pm to midnight at Modhesh World. Call: 600 555 559

*Suruma Eid Night

July 29

Shalu Menon and other Keralite stars are en route to take over Dubai with a south Indian musical night to celebrate Eid.

Acclaimed artists from the world of Mappillapattu will perform along with popular comedians and dancers at the Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, The Indian High School.

Organised by Ambient Events, the live acts are directed by veteran industry name, Jackyrehman.

Layali Dubai comes each year during Eid to celebrate with music by bringing in some of the best in Arabic entertainment.

This year we have Ismael Mubarak, Balqees Ahmed and Rabeh Saqer ready to give the audiences a melodiously good time day one, while Shamma Hamdan, Sa’ad Lamjarred and Ahlam ready to croon away on day two.

The event will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre and tickets are available at a variety of locations.

*Salim-Sulaiman Eid Mubarak Concert


July 31

Music directors, singers, record producers, instrumentalists, arrangers, programmers and collaborators on the official remix of Lady Gaga’s music, there is little these boys haven’t achieved in their Bollywood careers this past few years.

Brothers in arms, Salim and Sulaiman Merchant are coming to Dubai to wish everyone Eid Mubarak and hum a few tracks and play a few tunes in the process.

The duo, better known for incorporating western folk music laced with sufi influences to their music, will be performing its first commercial live concert in Dubai.

Accompanying them on stage is singer Shraddha Pandit and Indian Idol winners, Shreeram (Indian Idol 5) and Vipul Mehta (Indian Idol 6).

Your playlist for the night should ideally include the OST from ‘Band Baaja Baraat’, ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, ‘Kurbaan’ and ‘Fashion’.

Incidentally, Salim has also crooned some of the more popular Bollywood ballads, including ‘Ishq Wala Love’ from ‘Student of the Year’ and ‘Shukran Allah’ from ‘Kurbaan’.

*Transformers Live Show - World Premiere

July 31-August 09

This Eid Al Fitr, it will be a double whammy for fans of Transformers, with the fourth installment in the film franchise playing in the cinemas, while the  World Premiere of the Decepticlone Transformers Show will arrive in UAE for the very first time.

The Autobots and their nemesis Megatron will be taking to the stage as part of Eid in Dubai, with three daily shows will bring to life three iconic Cybertronians – Optimus Prime, Megatron and Bumble Bee – and afterwards, children will get the opportunity to meet their favourite characters during an interactive meet and greet session at BurJuman Mall.

Standing at almost eight feet tall, the three robots are set to enthrall the audience with an entertaining burst of sci-fi action and special effects on a soaring stage exclusively constructed for the Cybertronians.

The show is woven around an imagination-gripping tale that features two human characters, Spikey and Carley, as well as the two Autobots and the evil Decepticon, Megatron.

August 1

Shreya Ghoshal needs no introduction as one of the most recognised names and voices of Bollywood who is coming again to Dubai.

With over 1,000 songs across various languages to her credit before she hit 30, the Indian playback singer will return with her brand of music, with a playlist for the night that should include ‘Chikni Chameli’, ‘Nagada’, ‘Samjhawan’, ‘Sunn Raha Hai’ and the likes.

The musical prodigy will be performing at Al Nasr Leisureland.
