Electric-shocked duo jailed for trying to steal cable

Two Pakistanis who have received an electric shock while stealing a ‘hot’ electricity cable of Dewa were sentenced to three months in jail and ordered to pay Dh40,000 each by the Dubai Criminal Court.

In the previous hearing, TAM, jobless, above 21, and YRM, 30, worker, confessed to the accusation and asked the jury to be merciful as they have already received punishment for their deed when they got received an electric shock.

On April 25, the two convicts attempted to steal Dewa electricity cable using a saw. While they were trying to cut the cable they got electrocuted and their theft was discovered due to that.

The two were accused as well of deliberately damaging Dewa electricity cable and causing Dh40,000 estimated damage.
