Emirates 24|7 staffer wins Asiavision TV award

Emirates24|7 staffer V M Sathish has won the Asiavision TV and Radio award  for his TV talk show that highlights socially relevant issues.

The award was given to him after being elected by TV viewers through online voting as the 'outstanding presenter of the show from Gulf' for his talk show  'Encounters with VMS' on the Malayalam channel Darshana TV.

Sathish has been working in the print media for 25 years.

"I used to be regularly featured in various Malayalam TV talk shows to comment on issues impacting the UAE’s expatriate community. That's when many offers for TV came my way. But I didn't take up anything.

"Later, this news channel (Darshana TV) asked me to be part of a show that highlights problems of the expat community. It interested me and I wanted to do it,” said Sathish

Anwar Naha, president of the Dubai wing of Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre, and Shiaz Sultan, Middle East head of Darshana TV, conceptualised Satish’s show.

Satish has hosted 15 episodes which covered topics like credit card debts, suicides, business failures and infertility.

'Encounters with VMS' is telecast on Darshana TV on Saturday at 10.30pm.

"I have taken it as a social commitment. I’m grateful to my editors and seniors for giving me a great environment to grow," said Satish.
