Emirates airline is looking to hire captains for its A330s. “The opportunity to join our team as a captain on the A330 is available for a limited period,” said a statement by the airline.

The salary package of Emirates captains comprises both cash and non-cash elements. A captain gets a monthly salary of Dh42,015 (basic salary plus hourly flying pay based on 85 block hours per month).
They also benefit from employee profit share scheme based on the company’s performance and results. Education support allowance also offsets the rising tuition fee in Dubai schools.
Captains are provided annual financial support towards the payment of core tuition for up to 3 children aged 4-19.
Upon leaving the company, employees are entitled to an end of service gratuity (for an employment period of less than 5 years) or provident fund payment.
The provident fund scheme is a long-term savings plan in which the employee contributes 5 per cent of basic salary and the company contributes 12 per cent (paid out after 5 years of service).
The non-cash elements include annual leave aggregating 42 calendar days, free annual leave tickets for employees and their eligible dependents, life and accident insurance up to 48 months of basic salary, medical and dental insurance.
To apply for the position of captain A330 you need a minimum of 7,000 hours total flying time. A minimum of 3,000 hours command time on multi-crew; multi-engine commercial jet aircraft with a maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) of 50 tonnes or more is required.
The candidate must hold a valid ICAO Airline Transport Pilot License with an unrestricted class one medical certificate. This should be coupled with English language fluency, must have flown as an aircraft commander on a jet meeting the above mentioned criteria; within 12 months of joining.
Etihad is also looking to hire captains for its A320, A330/340, B777, non-rated B777 and B787 planes.
The starting salary is Dh35,200 per month for captains and an annual salary increment of 2 per cent, becoming 3 per cent after completing 5 years.
Flight duty allowance of Dh50 per flying hour is given. Housing allowance up to Dh170,000 per year or company provided housing depending on availability and education allowance of Dh36,000 for primary and Dh50,400 for secondary up to 4 children with income protection scheme forms part of the package.
Other allowances like meal allowance during layovers, 42 days annual leave, staff travel benefits, end of service benefits, accidental and life insurance benefits add up.
