Emirati teen killed in attempt to jump red signal

An Emirati teenager was killed on Friday evening while attempting to jump the red signal in Al Ain.

The mishap occurred when a four-wheel drive collided with three saloon cars at an intersection in the emirates industrial area.

According to Major Salah Al Humairi, Head, Al Ain Traffic Department, Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate, initial investigations prove that the accident happened when the four-wheel drive jumped the red signal at the intersection at high speed. 

The driver, who lost control and collided with three other cars, was seriously hurt in the mishap and transferred to hospital by the emergency unit of the police. He later succumbed to his injuries, the officer added.
