Published

A rescue team of Sharjah Police has recovered the dead body of an Emirati man who drowned off the Emirate’s Hamriyah Beach.

The accident took place when Emirati youth Mohammed Al Raessi went swimming near the beach. He drowned on Saturday afternoon.

The police’s rescue team searched for 24 hours before they were able to find and retrieve the dead body.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, Anood, a 24 year old Emirati woman and mother of three who was at the scene on Thursday, said she went to the beach with her family.

"While the kids were swimming, the rescue team’s boat came close to us and asked us all to leave the water. When we asked them for the reason, they told us that a man had drowned. It is a sad incident."

Anood said waves were too high on Thursday and it was not a good day for swimming.
