Emiratis urged not to travel to Thailand now

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on the UAE citizens not to travel at  present time to the Kingdom of Thailand, due to the tense political situation in the country, except in extremely necessary cases.

It noted that the warning comes from the ministry's keenness on the safety of Emiratis abroad.

The statement was made by Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, the Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He said that "the Ministry is closely following the developments of in Thailand and has assigned, in coordination with the UAE Embassy in the country an operation room that works around the clock in order to follow the citizens' conditions there."

He also urged the UAE citizens in Thailand to avoid gatherings and demonstrations, adding that they have to coordinate with the UAE Embassy in Thailand on the following numbers: 006624024000, 0066871108785 and on the operations department at 0244449600 in cases of need.

He added that the ministry is in continuous communication and follow-up with the UAE Embassy in Thailand in order to ensure Emiratis are safe. .

Al Hamed called on the citizens to comply fully with warnings until further notice from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, adding that the citizens should be careful when travelling abroad. He added that they should read the instructions and travel tips on the website of the Ministry as well as register in "My Presence Service" dedicated to the UAE citizens.

Kuwait urges citizens to avoid Thailand for now

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday urged Kuwaiti citizens planning to travel to Thailand to "wait for the time being," and urged Kuwaiti nationals already present there to depart.

Kuwait News Agency, KUNA, quoted a Ministry official source as saying that said the notification was necessary "to preserve citizens' lives due to the current events there".
