A young Indian water delivery man, who arrived in the UAE just three days ago, collapsed and died while at work, presumably because of the prevailing intense heat.

The new employee of the water bottling company in Dubai Investment City was delivering water in Abu Dhabi’s Musaffa industrial area when the tragedy happened.

Thirty-two year old Roopesh came to the UAE last Wednesday and started working on Thursday. He died on Saturday between 11.30am and 12.30pm, according to his colleagues and relatives. He was yet to get his medical report for stamping UAE visa.

Hassan, a manager of Yas Mineral Water Bottling Company, told Emirates 24|7: “We are sad about Roopesh’s death. He joined duty on Thursday after coming to the UAE on Wednesday. He resumed work on Saturday morning after taking a weekly off on Friday.

"He was working with a Pakistani worker delivering bottled water in Musaffa. He reported tiredness and dizziness and his colleague gave him water to drink and advised him to eat  while sitting in the vehicle.”

According to his friends, Roopesh, in India, used to work as a driver.

Roopesh’s relative Pappu, who works in the same bottled water company, told Emirates 24|7: “I cannot say anything about his death. He was quite normal when he left for work in the morning after breakfast. I am the one who arranged this job for him. He did not have any heart problem earlier.”

“We are awaiting the post mortem report, but the initial report is that he died of heart attack,” the employer’s manager said.

The dead body is kept in Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Hospital and will be sent home after completing the formalities.
