Expat run over by own truck in Sharjah

An Indian man died when he was run over by his own truck in Sharjah after apparently failing to properly stop the vehicle.

The unnamed man had parked his truck near the road in Hamriya on Sunday morning and got out without switching the engine off.

“He was in the front of the truck when it moved towards him and ran him over…he had apparently forgot to secure the brakes before getting out of the vehicle,” a police spokesman said.

The accident was one of two which killed Asians expats in the emirate over the past two days.

In the first accident at 6.20pm on Saturday, a motorcycle rider was hit by a Toyota vehicle in Al Qurain area and died on the spot.
