The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance acquitted a Kuwait-born American businessman of the charge of intimidation but ordered him to pay a fine of Dh4,000 for assaulting and abusing a car dealer and damaging property.

According to the records, ASA, 47, entered the car showroom at around 12.30pm on March 31 along with two other men and abused and threatened GAR.

“He told GAR he is a thief, cursed his mother and threatened to assault him. He was holding a small knife in his hand,” testified MTW, 42, Syrian in charge of the showroom.

“I tried to intervene and prevent ASA from assaulting GAR who ran away between the cars to the stairway. ASA followed him and damaged a board with the knife in his hand before threatening to assault the victim if he saw him again in the showroom when he returns after an hour. GAR called the police,” he added.

MSW, 35, Iranian, development manager, testified that the accused and other men tried to remove a board of the showroom. “GAR tried to prevent them but one of the men attacked GAR and chased him to the stairs and destroyed the board with a knife in his hand,” he testified.
