Explosion in Ajman factory; 2 seriously hurt

Two people were seriously injured in an explosion in an aluminium extrusion factory in Ajman on Thursday.

One of the injured person’s foot had to be amputated while the other suffered burns in various parts of his body.

Both were taken to Sheikh Khalifa Specialist Hospital for medical treatment.

Lt. Col. Ali Jaber Al Ahmad Al Shamsi of Hamedia police station said police was informed about the accident at 10am on Thursday. A civil defence team and an ambulance was rushed to the aluminium factory.

Investigations are under way to determine the cause of the explosion.
