Latest research data from LinkedIn shows that the UAE is in a strong position ahead of Expo 2020, in terms of building its talent pool and becoming home to world-class professionals. According to LinkedIn research, the country is winning almost twice more professionals than it is losing.

According to the research, 49,000 LinkedIn members have moved to the UAE during 2013, making it the next hot destination for acquiring talent in the Middle East region.  LinkedIn currently has over 1 million members in the UAE and over 10 million in the MENA region.

The study also showed that talent is mainly coming from India, the UK and the US internationally and Qatar and Saudi Arabia regionally. Top companies in the UAE that are tapping into this inflow of talent include Etisalat, The Jumeirah Group and Emirates Airlines.

With the country winning the right to host Expo 2020, more than 200,000 jobs are expected to be created in various sectors as the city prepares for the influx of visitors. The demand for local and international talent will increase dramatically.

Construction sector will benefit immensely after the win as many projects that have been announced and are taking shape will have to be completed before the city gets ready to host the event.

Next in line to benefit will be tourism and hospitality as Dubai prepares to play the host to the millions of visitors who will visit the city. The event will attract more than 25 million visitors to Dubai between October 2020 and April 2021, said Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) director general Helal Almarri.

The growth spurt will be felt in a big way in the aviation sector and airlines that will ferry these passengers can expect a big shot in the arm. Preparations are already well under way as the aviation authorities are gearing up for expanding and upgrading existing air infrastructure to accommodate the influx of millions of international visitors who will come with hosting Expo 2020.

As more people come to the city whether for work or travel, there will be increased demand in the areas of engineering, transportation and logistics.

Secondary and support sectors like trade, tourism, entertainment and retail will also benefit  from the organization of such a large scale event in the UAE. As demand grows, financial services will also benefit to fund the development that will take place.
