The Court of First Instance heard three separate cases of kidnap and impersonation on Sunday, in which at least three locals and four Pakistanis are in the dock.

The first case involves two Emiratis, one of whom is at large, facing charges of posing as Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers to intimidate and steal from two Bangladeshi workers.

They also face accusation of kidnapping one of the victims and threatening to send him to jail if didn’t hand over Dh10,000 to them.

The defendants are also facing charges of barging into another victim’s accommodation and snatching his mobile phone and a laptop, Khaleej Times reported.

However, the police arrested one of the accused outside his home in Oud Al Muttaina following a complaint by the victims.

Assault and theft

In another case, an Emirati and two jobless Pakistanis faced the charge of kidnapping a Pakistani worker after the Pakistanis posed as CIDs.

The worker was allegedly forced into the car by the three and after snatching his mobile phone and Dh700 from him, they allegedly assaulted him and left him in the desert on Al Maleeha Street in Sharjah.

They also approached him posing as CID officials when he was walking through a parking lot in Hor Al Anz on the night of April 3.

However, when he was left on Al Maleeha street, the victim managed to note down the car registration number of the car in which the three alleged culprits sped away.

He then got a lift from one of the motorists and went to the nearest police station and lodged a complaint.

The police found out that the car belonged to the Emirati suspect who worked for Sharjah Municipality and arrested him on April 20 near his workplace.

The other accomplices were arrested through police traps and porn CDs were seized from them.

Wallet snatched

In the third case, two Pakistani men, a worker and a driver, were on trial for stealing Dh10,800 from a Bangladeshi man, after posing as CID officials.

The two accused are accused of using the same tactic of posing as CIDs and forcing the victim into their vehicle.

The accused allegedly kidnapped a Bangladeshi electrician and stole his cash and four mobile phones.

The alleged victim was approached by the two when he was at his accommodation in Al Quoz on April 19.

They entered his room and asked for his ID and snatched his cash when he took out his wallet to show them the ID.

They then kidnapped him and took the victim to a secluded place in Al Quoz, where they stole four mobile phones from the victim, assaulted him and sped away after pushing him out of the car.
