Two Bangladeshis received three months in jail each for conning an Indian out of Dh19,500 - the value of forged work permits they handed over to him.

The court also ordered MMA, 35, Abra captain, and JAA, 24, cleaner deportated after serving their jail terms.

According to the records, MMA and JAA were accused with fugitives, of forging work visas attributed to the Dubai Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department and using the forged documents by submitting them to Shafi Nazir.

They are also accused of conning Shafi Nazir and getting from him Dh19,500, the value of the work visas which he later discovered were forged.

Shafi Nasir, 34, testified that MMA offered  to issue work visas if he has any person back home interested to come and work in the UAE.

Shafi accepted the offer and asked him to issue a visa for a relative who stayed in Bangladesh. The latter asked him for Dh19,500.

“MMA came to me and collected the money and handed over the visas. Later I found out that my nephew was not booked to fly to Dubai because the visa was forged,” Shafi told prosecutors.

MMA denied knowing that the visa was forged and blamed JAA for that. He said that he was only offering to sell the visa.
