The Abu Dhabi Court of Cassation upheld a decision of the Court of Appeals compelling two hospitals to pay a Dh50,000 as moral compensation to the family of a four-month-old baby girl for negligence in providing her with the necessary treatment.

They delayed providing her with antibiotics, which contributed to the deterioration of the situation and lead to her death.

Reports showed that the child was infected with "severe bacterial infection” leading to the failure of many vital organs, especially the lungs.

The parents of the child took their four-month-old baby to a hospital in Abu Dhabi after was suffering from severe vomiting.

The hospital subjected her to the necessary tests and gave offered her medicine to halt the vomiting.

The first hospital (first defendant) due to the seriousness of the situation referred her to another hospital (second defendant), where they did not put the child under observation and did not provide her with the necessary medical care, according to the court ruling.
