Filipino drowns off Sharjah… one rescued

A 26-year-old Filipino drowned in the water off Sharjah while swimming with a friend, who was rescued by police divers, press reports said on Sunday.

The two were swimming in Khan area behind the Pearl Hotel on Saturday when they were driven deep into the water by strong currents, they said.

Police divers managed to rescue one and take him to the hospital but the other drowned and his body was found later.
