A fire broke out on the premises of an Enoc petrol station on Dubai’s Al Khail Road on Tuesday afternoon, with Civil Defence crew bringing the blaze under control within minutes.

The fire started around 2.40pm  in the electrical distribution board outside the Z Degree tyre shop t on the premises.

Petrol station staff were evacuated while Civil Defence put out the blaze.

A Civil Defence official at the scene told Emirates 24|7: “The fire broke out in the electrical distribution box at the petrol pump. We arrived within five minutes of receiving the call, but had to wait until Dewa switched off the electricity before we could put out the blaze.

“The fire was contained in eight minutes. Because it was an electrical fire, there was a lot of smoke. But we were able to contain it in a short time.”

An official from Dubai Ambulances also confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.

A Civil Defence official has confirmed that due to the fire, the electricity for all outlets in the Enoc petrol station compound has been shut down. Due to this, the petrol pump will remain closed until the power is turned on.

A Dewa official on the scene confirmed that the power outage will continue until the repair work on the cables is completed. The official said Dewa was waiting for police clearance to start the work.

He added: “The entire system has been damaged and all the cables will have to be replaced. This could take up to eight hours. Systems should be back on shortly.”
