Fire in Sharjah near Al Khan Bridge

A major fire has erupted in Sharjah’s industrial area behind Safeer Mall at noon time on Wednesday.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire started in a  packaging company warehouse near Safeer Mall in Al Khan area and black smoke could be seen from many kilometres.

“Sharjah Police cordoned off the area and the civil defence vehicles also arrived in no time. The fire was put out by the civil defence quickly after its arrival,” an eyewitness told Emirates 24l7.

“Traffic was also very bad in the afternoon because the motorists returning from offices slowed down to look at the fire. The traffic was nearly at standstill at that time.”

At the time of filing this report at around 4pm, traffic was jam all the way from Al Khan Bridge to Deira City Centre.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.
