Forensic results have revealed that possible food poisoning caused by pesticide infested air was responsible for the sudden death of an Indian expat on June 21 in Naif.
According to a Khaleej Times report, Dubai Police investigations, supported by the forensic evidence have negated the earlier view that the death was caused by inhalation of pesticide used in a neighbouring accommodation.
The case has now been referred to Dubai Public Prosecutors for further investigation and the neighbours, who were held for interrogation on the use of pesticide, have been released on bail.
Tests done by the General Department of Forensic Science and Forensic Medicine of the Dubai Police has found that the food eaten by the two expatriates was not contaminated, but it could be affected by air.
The death was also not caused by alcohol poisoning though the deceased had consumed alcohol.
The deceased, identified as KM Suresh, a 26-year-old man from Kerala, India, and his friend Mohanan had shifted to the bachelors’ accommodation in Naif area on the day the incident took place.
The two bachelors, who were living in Sharjah earlier, had spent their first day in the room, which they shared with two others.
The duo were not aware of ‘pesticide tablets’ being used by people living in one of the nearby rooms.
Police reports said that Suresh vomited a lot and he died in the room before being taken to hospital, while his friend survived as he was shifted to hospital in time by police.
