Four consumers win action against dealers
Four local consumers who were cheated by dealers over the specifications of the bought products regained their funds after winning the case they filed to the Consumer Protection Society, 'Al Bayan' newspaper said on Wednesday.
The Society said it had forced the traders to pay back nearly Dh100,000 to the customers after it found evidence the consumers were cheated over the specifications of the items they had bought.
“The traders had first refused to refund the customers, prompting them to turn to authorities…the Society found that the traders violated the consumer protection law and ordered them to refund the clients,” it said.
Quoted by the paper, the Society’s chairman Jumma Fairooz did not elaborate on that case but said most of the consumer complaints involve trade fraud, high prices, cheating and expired products. He said the Society receives between five and 15 consumer complaints a day and that it tackles them with the help of the concerned authorities.
