Free parking in Dubai today; Metro, bus services unchanged

Public parking in Dubai will be for free all day today, which is a public holiday. This was announced by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

In a flyer distributed on social media websites, the RTA stated:  All public parking (controlled parking zones) in Dubai will be free on Sunday 12-01-2014, fees will be reactivated on Monday 13-01-2014 except the Fish Market Parking Zone and multi-storey parking.

In the same flyer the RTA informed that all customer service centres will be closed on Sunday, to resume work on Monday.

With regards to the working hours of public transportation, no changes were made.  This means that both metro lines run from 5.30am till midnight, with the Express Service available on the Red Line at 5.30am.

Bus services will be available as usual, with buses running from 4.30 AM till 12.30 AM from bus stations Al Ghubaiba, Gold Souk, Al Satwa, Al Qusais, Al Quoz Industrial Area, and Jebel Ali, while bus route C01 is running 24 hours.

From the stations Burj Khalifa, Abu Hail, Etisalat, Al Rashidiya, Mall of the Emirates and Ibn Batuta bus services commence at 5.15am and run till 12.15am.

For intercity bus trips commuters can count on the usual working hours too. From Al Ghubaiba and Jubail, this means round-the-clock availability. Travelling to Sharjah from Union Square, Al Sabkha, Deira City Center or Karama is possible from 5.30 AM to midnight, while travelling to Abu Dhabi from Ibn Batuta station is possible from 5am to midnight.

Buses to Fujairah run between 6.30am-9.30pm, buses to Ajman between 5.30am-10pm, and buses to Hatta between 6am-10pm.

The water bus runs from 10am till midnight, while the water taxi stops its services at 10am.
