An apparently hungry wolf attacked a farm in Fujairah and battled with farm workers before it jumped on the Emirati farm owner and bit his leg, sending him to hospital, according to local press reports.

The farmers had first managed to overpower by the wolf by knocking it down with big sticks and chaining it to a wall in the farm.

When the farm owner Khamis Al Kaabi was called in to see the animal, it managed to break loose and attacked him, the Arabic language daily Al Bayan said.

“It is a very strong wolf. It managed to break the chain and jump on me. It first targeted my face but I succeeded in keeping it off my face by kicking it. It then jumped on me again and big my leg,” he told the daily at hospital.

“This is a rare wolf, which I have never seen in the area before. It is a light brown colour and looks savage and strong.”

Khamis said the wolf was later killed by the farm workers after he lunged at them again, adding that the animal had first attacked his sheep and wounded some of them.

He said a female wolf was captured alive in the area two days ago.
