Gang tanks up on 60kg of hashish in UAE

The recent arrest of a drug-smuggling gang in Saudi Arabia was possible thanks to information provided by Dubai Police to Saudi authorities on an attempt by the gang to smuggle 60 kilogrammes of hashish into the Kingdom, according to Major General Abdul Jalil Mahdi Al Asmawi, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department at Dubai Police.

Dubai Police tipped the Saudi authorities off about the gang that was searching for an individual to carry the drugs to the kingdom, the official said.

Two suspects were caught red-handed as they were taking delivery of the drugs which they had smuggled in the fuel tank of a car.

Al Asmawi noted that Dubai Police acted in response to directives of Lt General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to cooperate with the security authorities of other countries to combat drug lords.
