Gas suppliers in Dubai have increased cylinder prices by between 7 and 14 per cent because of a surge in global oil prices, the Arabic language daily Emarat Alyoum reported on Monday.

Emirates Gas, an affiliate of the Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) said it had raised prices from last month because of higher oil prices, which are linked to gas prices, the paper said.

The price of small-size gas cylinders was hiked by around 7.14 per cent to Dh75 from Dh70 while the price of the  medium 22-kg cylinders was raised by nearly 14 per cent to Dh120 from Dh105.

Prices of large cylinders weighing 44 kg were increased by about 13.6 per ce3nt to Dh250 from Dh220, according to the report.

“Emirates Gas enforced price increases on its cylinders in the second week of last month under the pressure of high oil prices,” the paper said, quoting ENOC media chief, Numan Al Saleh.

“The company tried its best to introduce only modest price increases, which are the lowest among price rises enforced in many countries.”
