Girl flees to hotel rendevous after mom rejects Facebook suitor

Sharjah Police found a missing girl in a Fujairah hotel in which she had rented a room using the ID card of her mother.

The girl’s family had contacted Sharjah Police after she was found missing from their home in Kalba. They feared that someone had kidnapped her.

The girl had left her parents’ house of her free will, went to a beauty salon, took a taxi to Fujairah and rented a hotel room there.

The girl said that she did it a challenge to her family because her mother had refused her permission to marry an 18-year-old youth she had met through the Facebook social networking web site eight months ago.

The girl said she contacted the youth after she had taken a room in the Fujairah hotel but he had advised her to return to her parents’ house.

Sharjah Police issued a statement urging parents and guardians to monitor their sons and daughters’ friends made through social networking sites about whom they may have little information.
