Girl jailed for consensual sex with bus driver

A 14-year-old girl who initially claimed she was raped was on Tuesday sentenced to six months in prison followed by deportation, Gulf News reported.

The case was treated as an instance of consensual sex between her and the bus driver by the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance. The driver received a sentence of one-year imprisonment followed by deportation.

Court papers showed that the girl is of Brazilian origin, while her alleged assailant is a 25-year-old Pakistani. The incident reportedly took place in an undisclosed apartment on April 3.

Although the girl's father had initially filed rape charges against the driver, court investigators found that she had been sending text messages and very intimate pictures of herself to the accused.
