His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday received at the Presidential Palace Dr Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (Davos), who is currently visiting the country to attend The third summit on the Global Agenda. It will kick off on Monday in Dubai.
More than 700 thinkers will participate in the summit to discuss the key issues and challenges related to the future of mankind.
During the meeting, they reviewed the agenda of the upcoming summit and the importance of partnership between the Government of the UAE and the World Economic Forum in order to bring about positive change and contribute to the global decision-making through the recommendations that will come out of the summit to form a practical framework for organising the annual meeting of World Economic Forum for 2011 to be held in Davos in Switzerland.
For his part, Schwab hailed the achievements witnessed by the UAE in all fields which are the results of the clear vision of its leadership, pointing out its success in transforming challenges and difficulties into opportunities and achievements.
He also invited Sheikh Mohammed to attend the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum to be held next year in the Swiss city of Davos.
The meeting was attended by a number of ministers and senior officials.
Sheikh Mohammed also received at the Presidential Palace Stephen King, Prime Minister of the Caribbean Island of Saint Lucia and the accompanying delegation currently visiting the country.
During the meeting, they reviewed potential to establish business and investment relations between the UAE and Saint Lucia. Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the UAE's openness to different countries and peoples in various fields.
On his part, Saint Lucian Prime Minister expressed his country's keenness to explore possibilities to establish economic and investment cooperation with the UAE.
The meeting was attended by a number of ministers and senior officials.
Mohammed listens to Khalifa lyrics
Meanwhile, on Sunday Sheikh Mohammed listened to a lyric on Khalifa authored by Sheikh Mohammed and conceptualised by Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief.
The lyrical work is produced by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development.
Sheikh Mohammed admired the idea of producing a patriotic song from the poetical work which will be broadcast and distributed on the celebrations of the UAE's 39th National Day on December 2.
Present were Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mohammed Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs, Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development as well as a number of senior officials.
