Global Village opens on Thursday, November 6, 2014, for its 19th season lasting 157 days. It promises a bigger and better array of amazing and innovative new events and is all set to welcome millions of visitors.

This season will see the launch of the first mascot of Global Village called ‘Globo’.

Globo is a family-friendly character, which will have its own themed shows and visitors can also buy branded Globo merchandise at Globo Centre at Global Village.

More than 50 rides and games have been set up, including the new Fantasy Island funfair, operated by internationally-renowned rides and fun-fair specialists, the Mellors Group.

Similarly, a variety of entertainment shows are lined up, some of which will be performed for the first time in the Middle East. These include the Wall Kings, Vertical Drummers, Comedy Car Show, FMX show, Lords of Lightening, Mirror Man, and much more. Guests will also get to enjoy Streetmosphere, The Covent Garden Street Festival, which will bring the best of street artists from around the world as well as the Dancing Fountain.

Dining opportunities are also extended this season, with more restaurants and cafes ready to serve.

Ahmad Hussain bin Essa, Chief Operating Officer, Global Village, said: “The Global Village team is gearing up to welcome our first visitors on Thursday. The spectacular 157 days will see world-class attractions, more than 12,000 cultural and entertainment shows, more than 20 music concerts for international Super Stars, fantastic dining, shopping and family fun featuring a wide range of brand new activities for our visitors from the UAE and the region.

Tickets

Entry tickets are priced at Dh15 per person with free admission for children under 3; individuals with special needs and people over 65 enter free. Every ticket holder will be a winner this season as they will be given a ‘scratch and win’ voucher. There are 5 million prizes to be won.

Also, for the first time new ‘family and economy packs’ will be available at selected Eppco and Enoc stations around the UAE, meaning no waiting in lines at ticket counters. The ‘family packs’ will be priced at Dh199 for 10 tickets and at Dh99 for four tickets, with a total value-add of nearly 45 per cent discounts.

Technology

A key element to the 19th season is its alignment with Dubai’s 2020 vision of smart innovation. This has meant a brand new website and its very own mobile application for easy accessibility to its end-users and this year sees Du offer free Wi-Fi in Global Village for the benefit of both guests and exhibitors.

New Attractions and new pavilions

The special attractions will include Prehistoric Oceanarium, Animals Land, Al Remal Pit, Illumination World, 3D Haunted House and Heritage Village. This season will also see new pavilions from Cambodia, Iraq and The Americas, taking the number of pavilions to 31, with more than 70 countries represented from every continent.

“Global Village remains a major tourism attraction where the world comes together to enjoy an amazing family entertainment and cultural attraction. It also plays a vital role as a catalyst for Dubai’s ongoing growth as a major tourism attraction for regional and international guests while offering a great day out for local residents,” added bin Essa.

Located on the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed highway for ease of access, Global Village has parking space for 17,000 cars.
