Commuters have a long wait cut out for them this morning on Sheikh Zayed Road, with reports coming in of a mini bus that has flipped over on the highway.

According to witnesses, the accident has occurred en route to Abu Dhabi, near Jebel Ali with Dubai Police already on the scene. Another eye witness also mentioned several lanes  have been blocked with a police helicopter having landed at the scene.

Drivers are being cautioned to find alternative routes and expect delays.

Abu Dhabi police tweeted: “Low visibility due to fog formation on different parts in Abu Dhabi and on highways. Motorists urged to take extra caution.”

The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) also put out a tweet early this morning reporting: “Mist at the Abu Dhabi International Airport and 50m thick at Liwa.”

The NCMS also tweeted that there is fog at Khalifa City.
