Hamdan bin Mohammed to help save little Fatima's life

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and chairman of the executive council has given a Sudanese family a chance to save the life of their five-year-old daughter by donating for her treatment.

Fatima is suffering from atrophy and other muscular illnesses that are blocking her breathing system and threatening her heart, and doctors told her parents that her only hope is to be sent abroad as treatment of such cases is not available in the UAE.

Sheikh Hamdan decided to pay all expenses for the treatment of Fatima after her case was published in Dubai-based Arabic language daily Emarat Al Youm, which said her family is unable to bear the high costs of her treatment in London.

“Fatima will be sent immediately to London for treatment at the expense of Sheikh Hamdan…,” the paper said on Thursday.

It quoted her father as saying: “This generous gesture of Sheikh Hamdan has restored life to us and given us a fresh hope to see Fatima live like other children…we are very grateful for Sheikh Hamdan for this gallant gesture.”
