Reflecting the keenness of the leadership of the UAE in nurturing young Emirati talent, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has given directives to arrange a scientific world tour for the young Emirati inventor Adeeb Al Blushi.

"Together with his family, the child prodigy will travel to seven of the most advanced countries in the field of scientific research where he will meet with experts, scientists and forward-thinking mentors in a trip that will prep and acquaint him with this field. Al Blushi will also attend workshops and conferences on his tour to the USA, France, Britain, Ireland, Germany, Italy and Belgium, fully sponsored by the Dubai Crown Prince," the Government of Dubai Media Office said in a press release.

As per Sheikh Hamdan’s directives, Al Blushi’s tour was outlined so that it does not affect his school attendance but rather act as an extraordinary incentive to boost his confidence and take him across boundaries beyond his imagination. The Dubai Crown Prince has entrusted the Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology (EIAST) with following up with Al Blushi’s development and assessment.

Escorted by his family throughout the trip, the first stop for the young school goer will be Brussels in Belgium, later this month, where he will attend the Green Carbon Conference, which will be held under the theme, "Making Sustainable Agriculture Real."

The next stop on Adeeb's tour will be in Laval, France where he will attend the Virtual, Augmented and Robotic Humans (VARH) Conference. He will then travel to Munich, Germany to attend a workshop for medical equipment.

Moving on to the United States, he will attend the WOBI on Innovation New York 2014 event, and the 5th International Conference on Systematic Innovation in California. He will finally attend a workshop at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa).

In Italy, Adeeb will attend the Creativity Workshop in Florence where he will engage in a number of activities designed to expand the imagination, spark creativity and prepare the young generation of future scientists. The next stop on the tour is Northern Ireland where he will attend the International Radiocarbon in the Environment Conference after which he will travel to London for the Science and Information Conference 2014.

Finally, he will attend the 3rd Global Conference, Body Transformations, in Oxford before returning home to the UAE.

Adeeb started inventing after seeing his father in discomfort. He invented a light-weight prosthetic apparatus for his father and also made a tiny cleaning robot to assist his mother with those "hard-to-reach" places such as under the sofa and room corners.

Next in his line-up of devices is a heart-monitor, embedded in a seatbelt system that can wirelessly beam health alerts to first responders, a fireproof helmet with a camera system to help see in emergencies, and a smart wheel chair for the disabled.

A member of the Arab Robotics Association with over 60 certificates celebrating his talent, Adeeb is considered one of the youngest inventors in the world and was honoured as the youngest Arab inventor in robotics. Additionally, he was awarded the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance and received recognition from Jordan’s Jubilee Centre for Excellence in Education.

The young Emirati smart mind has won scores of accolades including the Cairo-based UN Information Centre's Excellence Award 2013 on scientific research and invention. The Arab Youth Council for Integrated Development (Aycid) has awarded him an honorary membership and named him head of its committee of young inventors and innovators. He also received a special honouring by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States during the launch of the first forum for Arab inventors in Cairo.
