A Sharjah court on Thursday postponed to December 16 the hearing of a case involving 17 Indians who were sentenced to death for killing a Pakistani man.

The deferment was ordered because the investigating officer could not turn up for cross-examination in the Sharjah Appeals Court, The Gulf Today reported.

A Shariah court had earlier sentenced the 17 Indians to death for killing Masri Khan in a turf war over illegal liquor trade in January 2009. Three others were injured in the fight in Al Sajaa.
