When The JW Marriott officially opened the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai it once again shone the spotlight on the emirate’s ability to stand tallest when it came to landmark constructions.

The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai now holds the title of World’s Tallest hotel from the Guinness World Records.

But that is not where the dizzy heights of Dubai’s hospitality ends.

In fact, according to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat’s (CTBUH) Tall Buildings Database on skyscrapercenter.com, six of the top 10 tallest hotels in the world are in Dubai.

Two in Bangkok and one in China complete the CTBUH top 10 list which is dominated by the emirate, at the apex of which sits the 355-metres JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, just 26 metres short of New York City’s famed Empire State Building.

In fact, the first six tallest hotels in world on the list are all in Dubai.

The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai Towers 1 and 2 share the top spot, so in at number 3 comes the Rose Rayhaan by Rotana, followed by the iconic Burj Al Arab Hotel and the Emirates Towers taking the top five spots.

The Baiyoke Tower in Bangkok then comes in ahead of two more Dubai hotels – the Khalid Al Attar Tower and the Hotel JAL Tower.

China’s Lan Kou Grand Hyatt Hotel in Chongqing and the Centara Grand Bangkok round off the top 10.
