Trading Enterprises has announced a recall for its 2012 CR-V cars in the UAE over a door problem.

The company has announced that it is launching a service campaign for these cars which may be affected.

“In co-ordination between the Ministry of Economy - Department of Consumer Protection and in line with the objective of the Ministry of Economy to conduct an ongoing review of all products in the UAE and provide the consumer with the required protection, Trading Enterprises announces that a service campaign for 2012 Honda CR-V will begin from 01/09/2012,” read an announcement by the company.

According to the company, if the manual or power lock is activated while an interior front door handle is being operated by an occupant the cable connecting the interior door handle to the door latch mechanism may become loose and move out of position. There is a possibility that the cable can move far enough out of position to prevent the door from properly latching. If the door is not fully latched, the door may open while driving or in a crash.

“I’ve just read about this problem. I don’t know whether my car is one of these 947 but I will take it just for my peace of mind,” Anurag Desai, a CR-V owner said.

As per Trading Enterprises, the decision has been taken jointly with Honda Motor Company Ltd and the Ministry of Economy – Department of Consumer Protection to launch a service campaign to carry out the inspection of those 947 vehicles in the UAE and have it replaced with the modified part to ensure that we give our customers peace of mind.

“Trading enterprise requests all customers who own the 2012 My Honda CR-V with the VIN [in question], to call the Customer Care Centre on 800-HONDA or long on to the website and make a booking,” read the announcement.
