Hundreds of taxi drivers in Sharjah have resigned and hundreds more continue protesting even as several of them have moved the Labour Ministry.

The drivers of Union, Advantage, Citi and Emirate Taxi companies are protesting against the new rule which requires them to pay 0.52fils for fuel for every kilometre travelled.

Local media reports say more drivers are lodging complaints with the Labour Ministry to collect their end-of-service benefits.

Agitated drivers say they are willing to go back to their home countries as they are not saving anything.
