Emirates Identity Authority (Emirates ID) announced on Thursday that the registration deadline for Abu Dhabi residents will come to end by (Saturday) as the delay fees will be applicable by Sunday, April 1st, 2012.

Emirates ID has called on Abu Dhabi residents to register in the ID card or renew their expired cards as soon as possible. The Authority emphasised that filling out an e-form at a typing center or through its website would help the customers to avoid the announced delay fees.

Emirates ID stressed on customers to visit the registration centers to complete the procedures, as per the deadline dates which appear in the electronic forms they filled.

Earlier, the Emirates Identity Authority exempted the owners of residence visas which would expire before December 31, 2012 in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah from the ultimatum set for each emirate, provided that this category would register by the time of renewal of their residence visas.

The Emirates Identity Authority also called on the employees of private companies operating within the free zones in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to register in the ID card or renew their expired cards before the end of the deadline set for each emirate.

As far as national and resident children below 15 years are concerned, the Emirates Identity Authority underlined the necessity for this category all over the UAE to register before October 1, 2012.

The deadline given to Abu Dhabi residents came as part of a schedule announced in September 2011 for completing registration of all UAE population, the Emirates Identity Authority said, calling for Dubai residents not to wait until the last minute and to register before June 1, 2012.

The Emirates Identity Authority pointed out that the population register and ID card project is a strategic national project aimed at enhancing the national and individual security, keeping an accurate population register, supporting decision-making and providing innovated online services.
