An Indian was found dead in his accommodation near his workplace in Ras Al Khaimah on Saturday after he went missing for a week.

Ramesh Nambiar, 51, who hails from Kannur, was found hanging in his accommodation located near his workplace near the Marid Pakistan Bazar on Saturday morning. His friends allege he may have hung himself due to financial difficulties arising from business failure.

On Friday night, he was happy and cooked food. At around five O clock he left for work as usual and went to the site where his new maintenance company was doing a repair work.

“He went there to take the measurement of the ceiling of a new spices shop in Marid Pakistan Bazar. Later he was found hanging from the ceiling of the shop on Saturday morning. I know him for eight years and we have worked together for three years. He had some financial liabilities. He could not complete three projects that he undertook and we have taken up the job. He had some problems with the licence for the new firm. A week ago his problems were discussed with close friends and relatives,” said Laxman, a close friend of Ramesh.

The police was yet to issue a report at the time of writing this article.

Ramesh from Cherupazhasshi, Veluvaputhen Veettil had been working in Ras al Khaimah for more than a decade as an aluminum fabricator, his friends said, adding that he started his own business with the help of former colleagues, which ended up in financial problems.

He had been paying fines for his visa overstay, and the father of two was depressed over his visa status and financial troubles, according to family friends, who are trying to repatriate the body.

He is survived by wife Pushpa Valli, daughter Arya (16) and son Hari Krishnan (13) who live in Kannur, Kerala.

Naser, an Indian social worker from Ras al Khaimah, who is supervising the body repatriation, said: “He was suffering from financial difficulties and we are yet to know the exact details of his liabilities. His family is in India and the dead body is in the Saif Hospital morgue. We are trying to repatriate the body after getting the police report.”
