Indian tourists spending in UAE to reach Dh45bn

The UAE will remain among the most favourite destinations for Indians tourists over the next few years.

Quoting a Euromonitor International report, The Times of India reported that Singapore, Thailand and the UAE have been most favourite destinations and they will continue to be the favourites over next few years.

Out of 154 million Indian tourists travelled abroad in 2012, around 1.1 million went to Singapore, 1 million to Thailand and 0.98 million to the UAE.

It projected that 25 per cent of Indians who will travel abroad in 2017 will go to one of the three above-mentioned countries. Around two million Indians will travel to Singapore and Thailand each and 1.9 million to UAE.

ToI reported that Indians spent over Rs503 billion (Dh30bn) in 2012 as compared to Rs542 bn in Singapore and Rs508 billion in the US.

But the UAE is expected to overtake the US with Indians tourists spending reaching Rs757bn in 2017.
