iPads: The bait of choice at Gitex Shopper 2011

The eight-day Gitex Shopper starts today (Saturday) with traders launching more bundled offers, as they race towards exhausting old stocks and older models.

iPhone 2s and BlackBerry Curve 8520 are being offered as gifts to lucky winners with the latter even bundled with other gadgets.

This year again, tablets are emerging as the main attraction with various new models hitting the stands.

While the 16GB IPad 2s are selling for around Dh2149.

Motorola Xoom which was being sold for Dh2,299 is now selling for Dh1,799 along with a case and a screen protector.

Coby by far is the cheapest available tablet with a 7-inch device selling for Dh499 and a 10-inch tablet for Dh1,199.

Among the interesting offers is one by E-City that is selling three gadgets every day for just Dh1.

Visitors who shop for Dh100 get to participate in the Dh1 promotion on three selected products every day.

The first day’s offer is for a BlackBerry Curve 8520, a 16GB IPhone 4 and a 16GB IPad 2 for just Dh1.

The store has advertised that more than 30 iPads alone are to be won.

Sharaf DG which has some serious bundled offers where a purchase of a Digital SLR camera worth more than Dh2,500 will be bundled with a free 32 inch TCL LCD TV.

The store says it has set aside Dh10 million worth of bundled gifts during this Gitex.

Customers at Jumbo will get a 500 GB harddisk along with a printer, case and a headset along with the purchase of any laptop.

It is also offering an iPad 2 every hour, one raffle coupon with every purchase worth Dh300; a free gift with the purchase of every smart phone. Customers can also exchange their used laptop for a brand new one.

Jackys is offering 435 Benq 32 inch LCD’s as gifts this Gitex to those lucky costomers who have shopped for Dh300 or more.

For those planning to buy an SLR camera, there are interesting offers from both Nikon and Canon. Canon’s EOS 1100D the 12 megapixel comes with a basic lens along with 75 to 300mm lens kitbundled with a 4GB memory and case and a Dh200 voucher for Dh2,699.

Nikon’s D310, the 14.1 megapixel camera with a basic lens and an AF-S55-200 lens, along with a 4GB card and a case is priced at Dh2,799.

Fujifilm has priced its 16-megapixel JV250 with HD video recording facility for as low as Dh299 and has even dared visitors to find a better digital camera compared to what it is offering.   

There are others who have gone a step further and offering gifts to just visit the stalls. Visitors to the exhibition who also visit the Oasis Trading Centre at Nakamichi will get to participate in a raffle and win Dh15,000 every day.
